Actions on Project

Ask NocoAI

Copy a prompt, paste it into NocoAI in any base, and replace the words in [brackets] with your own.

  • Rename this project to [new name]
  • Give me an overview of the tables in this project and how they are linked
  • Suggest improvements to the structure of this project

Project card

The workspace Projects page shows each project as a card. The card shows:

  • A colored tile with the project icon, on the left. To change the icon or color, click the tile.
  • The project name, with a subtitle. The subtitle tells what opens when you click the card: Interface if the project has a published interface, or else Project.
  • A ⋮ menu when you hover over the card. The menu opens the project context menu.

If a card opens an interface, a Go to data button also shows when you hover over the card. This button opens the tables of the project.

To show only some cards, use the filter dropdown above the list. The options are All Projects, Starred, Private, and Owned by me. To find a project by name, type in the search box in the top bar.

Project context menu

You can open the project context menu in two ways:

FromDo this
From the workspace Projects pageClick the ⋮ icon on a project card.
From within a projectIn the top-left of the sidebar, click the project name dropdown. This menu has more options, such as MCP Server, Rest APIs (API v2 / API v3), and Import data.

Rename project

  1. Open the project context menu.
  2. Select Rename project.
  3. Edit the name.
  4. To save, press Enter.

Change project icon and colour

  1. On the workspace Projects page, click the colored icon tile on the left of the project card.
  2. Below Icon, select an icon from the grid. To find an icon by name, use Search all icons.
  3. Below Colour, select one of the preset swatches. The tile tint changes to the color that you select, and it adapts to light and dark mode. To set a custom color, click + at the end of the row. This opens More Colors.

Project icon picker

NocoDB saves each change when you select it. The picker stays open, so you can set the icon and the color at the same time.

Changing a project icon or colour requires permission to rename the project.
Icon selection is available on NocoDB Cloud and licensed self-hosted deployments. On Community Edition, the picker offers colours only.

Star project

  1. Open the project context menu.
  2. Select Add to starred.

The Projects page shows starred projects below a Starred heading at the top, above Owned By Me. Thus the projects that you use most are easy to find. To show only starred projects, select the Starred option in the project filter dropdown.

The Duplicate Project dialog

Cross-project links, audit logs, and integrations will not be duplicated. You will become the owner of the duplicated project. Existing members are not transferred. User field values are carried over even when the person is not a member of the destination workspace; a value is dropped only when no NocoDB account exists for that user.

Delete project

When you delete a project, NocoDB permanently removes all its tables, data, and related content.

Only project owners can delete a project. This action cannot be undone.
  1. Open the project context menu.
  2. Select Delete project.
  3. To confirm, click Delete Project.

Find the project ID

Each project has a unique ID that starts with p. The project context menu shows it as PROJECT ID, and it is also the second segment of the URL.

Example:

https://app.nocodb.com/wa5dveq3/pptsua3fuosby2j

In this example, the project ID is pptsua3fuosby2j. The REST API calls the same value baseId. Refer to Base ID.

Relations

NocoDB shows a diagram of the relationships between the tables in a project.

  1. Open a table in the project.
  2. In the view toolbar, click Tools.
  3. Select Relations.
  4. Click Project relations.

REST APIs

Each project has a Swagger UI, where you can use its REST API endpoints. API v2 and API v3 are both available.

  1. In a project, open the project context menu.
  2. Hover over Rest APIs.
  3. Select API v2 or API v3.

For more details, see Accessing APIs.

Data display

Data Display controls how a project shows empty values and junction tables. To open it, go to the project context menu → Settings, then Admin → Data Display. The settings are in two groups. The group tells who the setting affects.
