Credits
Understand NocoDB credits: monthly plan allowances, what consumes credits, how credits are spent, and how to buy more.
Credits are the usage unit for NocoDB's managed, usage-based features: NocoDB AI, script execution, and AI web search. Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and you can top up with credit packs at any time.
Your credit balance belongs to your workspace. Workspaces that are part of an organization share a single balance pooled at the organization level.
What uses credits
| Feature | How usage is metered |
|---|---|
| NocoDB AI (chat, schema generation, field & view suggestions, formula assistant, AI fields) | Per token. Cost varies with the size of the request and the complexity of the task. |
| Scripts and workflow Run Script steps | Sandbox runtime. A default sandbox consumes roughly 4 credits per minute of execution. |
| AI web search | 14 credits per search, 2 credits per page fetched. |
A few things that do not consume credits:
- AI integrations you configure with your own API key. Only the NocoDB-managed AI integration is metered; bring-your-own-key integrations are billed by your provider directly.
- Regular workflow steps. Only steps that use AI or run scripts are metered; triggers, record operations, HTTP requests, and other nodes are free.
Monthly plan credits
Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance:
| Plan | Credits per month |
|---|---|
| Free | 500 per workspace |
| Plus | 1,000 per billed editor seat |
| Business | 2,500 per billed editor seat |
| Scale | 5,000 per billed editor seat |
| Enterprise | 7,500 per billed editor seat |
- Plan credits are granted monthly, anchored to your billing cycle.
- Unused plan credits do not carry over. They expire at the end of the billing period.
- If you change plans or your billed seat count changes mid-period, the allowance for the running period is re-priced proportionally to the time spent on each plan.
How credits are spent
Credits are consumed in a fixed order:
- Plan credits are always used first, so your monthly allowance is spent before it can expire.
- Promotional credits, if any.
- Top-up credits purchased through credit packs.
Within each category, credits closest to expiry are used first. Top-up credits roll over for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Checking your balance
Open the billing dashboard by clicking Admin in the workspace sidebar and opening the Billing sub-tab. The Credit Balance card shows:

- The number of credits currently available.
- A breakdown bar of remaining plan credits (with the reset date) and top-up credits.
- A footer line confirming that plan credits are spent first, with the plan credits remaining in the current cycle.
- A warning badge when purchased credits are due to expire within 30 days.
- Show details expands a per-pack list: pack size, purchase date, credits left, and expiry date.
When you are running low on credits, a meter also appears above the AI chat input showing the credits you have left, with a shortcut to buy more.
Buying credits
Credits can be purchased on paid plans only, and only by workspace owners (or organization admins from the organization billing page).
Credit packs:
| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| 10,000 credits | $10 |
| 55,000 credits | $50 |
| 120,000 credits | $100 |
To buy a pack:
-
Click Admin in the workspace sidebar and open the Billing sub-tab.
-
Click Buy credits on the Credit Balance card.
-
Select a pack in the Buy credits dialog and click Continue to payment.

-
Complete payment in the Stripe checkout form.
-
You are returned to the billing page and the credits are added to your balance. An invoice for the purchase is available from Stripe.
Purchased credits are added to the same balance as your plan credits and remain valid for 12 months.
Running out of credits
- When your balance drops below 10% of your monthly plan allowance, NocoDB shows a low balance warning in the billing dashboard and above the AI chat input.
- When the balance reaches zero, actions that consume credits are blocked with a "You've run out of credits" message. Buy a credit pack to continue immediately, or wait for your plan credits to reset at the start of the next billing period.
- AI integrations configured with your own API key are unaffected and keep working.
