Share an interface

Grant collaborators access to an interface with roles, invite people outside the base, or share individual pages publicly on the web.

Interfaces are meant to be shared. You can grant access to collaborators with fine-grained roles, invite people who have no access to the base itself, or share individual pages publicly on the web.

Only base creators and owners can build interfaces. Sharing controls who can use them.

Manage interface access

Open your base's settings and select the Invite Members to Interface tab to grant access to users or teams. Use the interface filter at the top to switch between the base's interfaces. Grants can be made for the whole interface, or per page.

Manage access

RoleWhat it allows
EditorUse the published interface and edit records where the page allows it.
CommenterUse the published interface and comment on records, without editing data.
Read onlyUse the published interface read-only.
HiddenExplicitly excluded from the interface or page.
InheritedNo explicit grant at this level: the role resolves from the level above. The selector shows what it resolves to, for example Inherited (Read only).

When a person has multiple grants (for example, a direct grant plus a team grant, or an interface-level grant plus a page-level grant), the effective role is resolved for them automatically, with base-level roles also taken into account.

Which access controls you can use varies by plan. On some plans, access follows the base roles people already have, and finer-grained options such as per-page grants are unavailable.

Interface-only collaborators

People invited to an interface don't need any role in the base. They see only the published interface, never the base's tables, views, or other configuration. This makes interfaces a safe way to open up data to clients, partners, or wider teams. Inviting collaborators who have no base role is available on some plans only.

Restrict sharing

Enable Restrict interface sharing on an interface to limit sharing to base collaborators only. Interface-only collaborators then lose the ability to share the interface or manage its access.

Share a page to the web

Not yet available. Public share-to-web ships as its own release phase, and the Share button is currently hidden in the interface builder. This section describes the planned behaviour.

Individual table and dashboard pages can be shared publicly as read-only web pages:

  1. Open the page's share dialog and toggle Share to web.
  2. Copy the public link.
  3. Optionally enable password protection; visitors must enter the password before viewing the page.

Share to web

The page picker lists every page visible in the interface navigation. Pages on layouts that can't be shared publicly are listed too, but greyed out, with an explanation shown when you select one.

Only table and dashboard pages that are visible in the interface navigation can be shared publicly. Form, overview, and record layouts can't be shared to the web, and sharing is restricted for private bases.
