Long Text

The Long text field is a text-based field that supports multiple lines of text. Use it for long content such as descriptions, notes or comments.

Create a Long text field

1. Click the + icon next to the last field in your table.
2. Enter a name for the field.
3. Select Long text from the list of field types.
4. (Optional) Turn on Rich text formatting. Learn more here.
5. (Optional) To use a document-style block editor in each cell, turn on Smart text. Learn more here.
6. (Optional) Set a default value for the field.
7. (Optional) Add a description.
8. Click Save Field. NocoDB adds the field to your table.

Cell display

The Long text field shows as a standard text cell in the table. The row height sets the number of visible lines.

To see more lines and edit inline, double-click the cell. You can also select the cell and press the Enter key. The editor expands.

You can also click the Expand icon in the cell. A larger pop-up editor opens. To resize the pop-up editor, drag its bottom-right corner. To move it, drag its header.
