Last Modified Time
Since version v0.204.0 (Jan 2024), NocoDB records the time when each record was modified. NocoDB stores this time in a system field in the database. By default, the field is hidden in the table. To see this time in the UI, do one of these:
- Enable
Show System Fields. - Create a
Last Modified Timefield manually with the steps below.
You can only hide the default system field in the UI. You cannot change, duplicate or delete it.
Create a LastModifiedTime field
- Click the
+icon to the right ofFields header. - In the dropdown modal, enter the field name (Optional).
- In the dropdown, select the field type
LastModifiedTime. - Click
Save Field.

Track specific fields
By default, a LastModifiedTime field updates when any editable field in the record changes. You can limit it to a set of fields that you select. Then edits to the other fields of the record do not change the value.
Where this is supported, the field configuration modal shows two tabs: Fields and Formatting. On the Fields tab:
- Select
Specific fields. - Click
Select fields. - Tick the fields to track.
- Click
Save Field.
The field then shows the most recent time that one of the selected fields changed. To track the whole record again, select All editable fields.
You can track all fields that users can edit, including links. You cannot track these fields:
- Lookup, rollup, formula and other derived fields
- Auto-generated fields, such as ID and auto number
- System fields

Cell display
The LastModifiedTime field is read-only in the table view. It shows a date and time string in the format DD MMM YYYY, HH:mm.
Good to know
- For a connected external database, NocoDB does not create the
LastModifiedTimefield automatically. You can create aLastModifiedTimefield manually with the steps on this page. - If the
LastModifiedTimefield is empty, one of these is true:- The record is older than the
LastModifiedTimefeature (v0.204.0, Jan 2024). Before this feature release, you could remove theLastModifiedTimefield from the table. - The record was never modified.
