# Create Project

Create a NocoDB project from scratch, from a template or with AI.

On the workspace **Projects** page, click **New Project**. These options show:

| Option            | What it does                                      |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **From scratch**  | Starts an empty project.                          |
| **From Template** | Uses a pre-built structure for a common use case. |
| **Build with AI** | Uses AI to create a project from your use case.   |

## From scratch

1. Click **New Project** → **From scratch**.
2. Type a name for the project.
3. Select a **Project Type**:
   * **Default**: Workspace members can work in the project based on their role.
   * **Private**: Only invited members can access the project. Only you can see and manage its members. Refer to [Private Project](/docs/product/projects/private-project).
4. Click **Create Project**.

## From Template

1. Click **New Project** → **From Template**.
2. Browse the templates by **Departments** or by **Industries**:
   * **Departments**: Marketing, Project Management, Supply Chain, Finance & Legal, HR & Recruiting.
   * **Industries**: Education, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Retail, Transportation.
3. Select a template. A preview of its structure shows.
4. Click the template to create the project.

## Build with AI

  . On self-hosted deployments, AI project creation requires configuring your own AI integration (Business plan and above).

1. Click **New Project** → **Build with AI**.
2. Select a use case (for example, Project Management, CRM or Marketing campaigns), or describe what you need.
3. Examine the suggested tables, views and relationships.
4. Click **Create Project**.

  When you create a project, you become its owner. Only project owners can delete a project.

After NocoDB creates the project, the [Project Dashboard](/docs/product/projects) opens. Add tables and data from there.
