Share Document
Share a NocoDocs page as a read-only public link. Anyone with the URL can open the document in a browser. They do not need a NocoDB account. Use public links to publish product docs, internal wikis, project briefs or handbooks to a wider audience.
Open the Share Dialog
The Share button is in the top-right of the document, next to the ⋮ page menu.
- Open the document you want to share.
- Click the Share icon in the top bar. Or open the
⋮menu and select Share. The Share dialog opens, with a Share Doc section for the open document.

Enable Public Viewing
- In the Share dialog, turn on Enable Public Viewing. NocoDocs makes a public URL in the form
https://app.nocodb.com/doc/<uuid>and shows it. - To copy the URL, click the copy button. To open it in a new tab, click the external-link button.
https://app.nocodb.com with the URL of your NocoDB instance. When you turn the toggle off, the link stops working immediately. Anyone with the old URL sees a "This page doesn't exist" page.

Copy the Embed Code
The Share dialog also gives you an iframe snippet. Use it to embed the document in another web page, an internal wiki or a NocoDocs page.
- Click the
</>icon next to the public URL. NocoDocs copies the HTML snippet (<iframe src="..." width="100%" height="100%" style="border: none;"></iframe>) to your clipboard. - Paste the snippet into the host page.
Include Sub-pages
The Include sub-pages toggle sets what the public link shows: the full subtree below the shared document, or only that one page.
| Toggle | Public reader behavior |
|---|---|
| On (default) | The sidebar shows the shared document and all its descendants. Visitors can open all pages in the subtree. |
| Off | Visitors can open only the shared document. The sidebar does not show. Child pages show a "This page doesn't exist" error, also from a direct URL. |
Sharing Blocked by Visibility Permissions
Public sharing is blocked if the document has a custom Document Visibility permission, that is, any value other than the default Viewers and up. A public URL would bypass the explicit visibility restriction. Thus NocoDocs does not make a public URL.
The dialog shows this inline notice:
Public sharing is unavailable while this document has custom visibility permissions. Reset visibility to default.

- In the notice, click Reset visibility to default. NocoDocs removes the explicit visibility permission from this document. The document then uses the inherited or default visibility.
- Turn on Enable Public Viewing.
What the Public Reader Sees
The /doc/<uuid> page shows the document in a simple reader:
- NocoDB wordmark in the top-left of the top bar.
- Breadcrumb in the top bar. It shows the shared root → ancestors → current page. Click a segment to open that page.
- Theme toggle to change between light and dark mode.
- Download button to export the current page as Markdown.
- Sidebar with the shared document and the sub-pages that visitors can open. Visitors can expand it inline. The sidebar shows only when Include sub-pages is on.
- Cover image, icon, and attachments look the same as in the authenticated editor.

A robots meta tag marks the page noindex, nofollow, so search engines do not index it. Visitors cannot edit, comment on or change the document in any other way.
Revoking a Share
- Open the Share dialog.
- Turn Enable Public Viewing off. The link stops working within seconds. Cached attachments expire a short time after.
Anyone who opens the old URL sees a generic "This page doesn't exist" page with a Go back home button.

If you enable sharing again later, NocoDocs makes a new URL with a new UUID. The old URL does not work again.

- Public sharing is available on all Cloud plans, and on self-hosted deployments on the Business plan and above. The Community Edition includes NocoDocs, but not public sharing.
