Compare Noco Factory with cloud AI coding agents such as Devin, OpenAI Codex and the GitHub Copilot coding agent, and see when Noco Factory is the right fit.

Noco Factory is a cloud AI coding agent. It is in the same category as Devin, OpenAI Codex, the GitHub Copilot coding agent, Cursor cloud agents, Google Jules and Claude Code on the web. Each of them takes a task in plain language, works in a cloud environment, and returns code changes for a person to review.

This page shows what Noco Factory shares with these agents, where it differs, and when another agent can fit better.

## What Noco Factory shares with other cloud coding agents

Noco Factory works like other cloud coding agents in these ways:

* You describe a task in plain language, or start from a GitHub issue or pull request.
* The agent works on a cloud machine, not on your laptop.
* The agent works on its own branch and returns a pull request.
* You can run many tasks at the same time.

## Where Noco Factory differs

| Area | Noco Factory |
| ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Where it lives** | Inside your NocoDB workspace, next to your tables, apps and workflows. A factory uses the same members, audit log and credits as the rest of the workspace. |
| **What you see while it works** | A live stream of the agent's desktop, a preview of the app on each port, a terminal, and a diff with line comments that you send back to NocoAI. See [Live screen and preview](/docs/factory/live-screen-and-preview). |
| **Machines** | Versioned machine builds with your languages, package managers, tools and services (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB). NocoAI suggests changes to the machine as it works. See [Machines](/docs/factory/machines). |
| **Team visibility** | Every member with the **Developer** role or above can watch any session as it happens. Only the person who started a session can control it. See [Members and roles](/docs/factory/members-and-roles). |
| **Repository access** | The NocoDB GitHub App reaches only the repositories that you pick. NocoAI gets a short-lived token for each turn, and never pushes to the default branch or to a fork. See [Connect GitHub](/docs/factory/connect-github). |
| **Models** | Pick the model for each message, from the models that NocoDB manages or on your own API keys. See [Models and credits](/docs/factory/models-and-credits). |
| **Billing** | Workspace credits: tokens for NocoAI on managed models, and machine time by the second. |

## When to choose Noco Factory

Noco Factory is a good fit when:

* Your team already works in NocoDB, and you want the coding agent in the same workspace, with the same members and audit log.
* You want to watch and steer the agent while it works, not only read the result.
* Your sessions need services such as PostgreSQL or Redis, set up once for every session.
* You want to pay for usage with workspace credits.

## When another agent can fit better

Another coding agent can fit better when:

* Your code is on GitLab or Bitbucket. Noco Factory supports GitHub today. GitLab and Bitbucket are coming soon.
* You need the agent on your own servers. Noco Factory is available only on NocoDB Cloud.
* You want the agent inside your IDE or terminal. Noco Factory runs in the browser.

## Availability

Noco Factory is in beta. During the beta, it is available on the paid plans of NocoDB Cloud: **Plus**, **Business**, **Scale** and **Enterprise**. See [Availability](/docs/factory#availability).
