Page layouts for NocoDB classic apps (formerly interfaces): table, record review, dashboard, form, overview and record detail, and when to use each.

Each page in a NocoDB classic app uses a **layout**. The layout sets the structure and purpose of the page. You select a layout when you create a classic app or add a page. You cannot change the layout later. But a classic app can have many pages, and each page can have its own layout.

## Pages, modals, and side sheets

Most pages show full-screen in the app navigation. A page can also show as a **modal** or **side sheet**. [Record detail pages](/docs/classic-apps/layouts/record-detail) usually open this way when a user clicks a record.

Pages that are hidden from the navigation stay available for this contextual use. They only do not show as a navigation entry.
